Sustainable Building
All MKB homes are constructed with
an uncompromising commitment to quality in every aspect
of the building process—from home design and
site preparation through material selection, installation
and post-construction client support. This unwavering
attention to detail ensures that every home is constructed
to last while preserving the natural beauty of Westen
North Carolina and upstate South Carolina.
Our superior construction techniques
and use of durable materials naturally minimize energy
loss. We can help homeowners further reduce environmental
impacts by incorporating a variety of high quality,
sustainable building materials.
Sustainable building materials include
locally sourced lumber and stone and reclaimed/salvaged lumber
and architectural features such as windows and doors.
Other high-quality sustainable choices
include renewable wood products such
as cork, bamboo and responsibly forested or engineered
lumber. Engineered
stone and surface-quarried stone such
as quartz or soapstone are sustainable alternatives
to deep-quarried stone such as granite or marble.
Wall systems such as SIPs, ICFs,
and pre-cast
concreteor AAC walls have
become popular alternatives to stick framing because
of their durability and excellent insulating properties.
